a man in ohio is Aaron AMC movie theater he was seeing Jack
Ryan shadow recruit the whole that Jack ratio to recruit as a shadow goes
think that might be a video game and he was wearing Google glass is
and federally the fed's burst in about an hour into the movie
and took him out and interrogated him and he left in account
that on the Gadgeteer website read what he said
they wanted to know where I got glass and how I did come by having it I told
them I applied about a thousand times to get
in the Explorer program and eventually I was selected and I got class from Google
I offered to show them risk the receipt and Google s website if they would allow
me access
to any computer with internet of course that was not an option
then they wanted to know what does Google ask me in exchange for the class
how much
Google is paying me who is my boss and why I am
recording the movie a that's pretty
crazy so fed literally so they thought the Fed
supposedly thought that he was recording the movie and he was gonna sell it
online
I and they happen to be federal agent at this particular movie
at that very moment but even if that illegal which it is
this seemed a bit intrusive yes so the Department of Homeland Security got
involved in the yeah I find a little curious especially in the agent
global terrorism and everyone so concerned about national security
well if the Department of Homeland Security is concerned about back
why are they spending their time and their resources interrogating from one
was wearing blue
Google glass with that said I mean I think it's important for theaters such
as AMC
to have regulations or rules in place that let patrons know hey you know what
if you do have this technology unfortunately we're not gonna lie to
come into the theater with that
because we're worried about people recording the movie and putting it
online and you know basically stealing from these production companies that
have spent
millions and millions of dollars to make this movie you know so I can understand
those concerns but I get the best don't need to get involved in it to this
extent it to interrogate him
like taking out his word you didn't hear him for an hour
if you wanna see if there's anything record on the Google
Google glass and that's one thing but you know asking him all these really
invasive questions unnecessary so of course we should just say by the way
they give go through his Google FA only about family pictures
nothing else he was not doing anything illegal and obviously we're gonna see
more and more that I mean Google as I I firmly believe
is gonna change almost everything about how we interact on it
on a daily basis at the AMC movie theater they did release a statement
at AMC Easton 30 last week in a guest was question for possible movie fact
after he was identified wearing a recording device during the film
the present at this recording device prompted an investigation by the MPAA
which was on site the MPAA then contacted Homeland Security which
oversees moviefap
the investigation determined the guest was not recording content so yes just to
be clear again he was doing nothing wrong completely has privacy
shredded I mean how do we balance the
you know stopping pirating movies which obviously is an important piece at the
Hollywood economy
verses privacy rights I think you fall on the side to pry I was told that
little bit but
side of privacy I'm definitely a that that that's where I
my wheelhouse is on to me what really surprised me about this story
is yes you're right I think we're going to have to determine with the socially
acceptable ways it using Google glass are because it has the potential to
invade privacy and no so many ways but also
the police I'm sorry the Department of Homeland Security which was called by
the movie theater to investigate this guy
they searched his cell phone yeah I believe that there is a case
I'm I think it's at the supreme court level right now where they're examining
whether or not
police have the right to search your cell phone without a warrant because
cell phones have become many computers that have
your email they have %uh your texts they have everybody that you've been
communicating with they have documents they have all kinda stuff minor
so you know did they violate this man's civil rights
by our is constitutional rights by investigating and looking through his
cell phone without a warrant
yeah it's a it's ridiculous i mean i i'd agree with you our privacy rights are
much more important
then the possibility of someone pirating movie I
I really can't believe that they put him and his wife through all this and I
should know
know some people might be asking the question why was he wearing that he's a
technology during the movie anyway especially if
he had no intention of reporting the movie well it turns out that
he needs glasses and Google glass
had lenses yeah for his prescription so you can use it for the technology but
you could also use it to feed so that kinda
I think that's gonna become a problem for Google glass yet
because you know you got people who've already said hey what about you can you
can go anywhere and you can photograph
any person you know without their permission and posted on the internet
and
if you're just gonna say I love my prescription lenses there's no way to
stop someone from taking those kinda recordings that like in California for
example would be a violation apartheid laws
so yeah back Google's got some some splainin to do here they're gonna have
to figure out how they're gonna keep people from getting in trouble their
customers from getting in trouble
if they want this to become a widely adopted device
