What's the difference between being afraid and being afraid of something?
Maybe none.
Perhaps being afraid of dying, or suffering, or falling in love
highs, spiders
Perhaps it's all just being afraid.
Maybe, we have tried for entire lives to squeeze our fear
into one class, into one label.
Once tamed, fear makes us believe it's made of only one thing.
And in that illusion we find the courage to face all the rest.
To face the world.
To grow up.
To tell the truth.
To have a child.
If fear is some absolute value refusing our labels
Then it's intrinsic to men.
And if it's intrinsic to men
It must have a purpose.
What is it for?
Fear prevents us from satisfying completely our suicidal murdering curiosity.
The fear in our species kept a safe distance from the insidious abyss of extinction.
Fear is this genius and providential mechanism that makes us run from danger.
And we cherish this gift so much
That we enjoy it.
We feel the stimulating venom burning in our guts
When the floor vanishes and time stops.
In the middle of it we know for sure we're still alive.
While instinctive terror fights consciousness
Which verified every bond and every carabiner
While the brains of the animal struggles seeking hope
Attacking with violence the memories of the parachute being folded carefully
In that wild moment...
No man would stay indifferent.
