My name is Matt.
I'm a Senior Associate in Prudential's Newark office,
and I've been with the company for about three years.
I'm currently in the Treasury group,
where I manage the company's capital and liquidity.
My initial attraction to Prudential
was definitely the position that I was offered,
but as I researched a little bit more
and dug a little bit deeper,
I realized that the business model
and the products that the company offered
in terms of the emphasis on serving the community
and serving the general public made me want to work here.
Prudential is a great place to work in terms of the culture
and especially the leadership.
I've found that the senior management in my area
is extremely accessible on a day-to-day basis
with regards to any projects or initiatives that are going on,
but also from a high-level information perspective
in terms of giving me direction about where the company's going
and what the group's goals are.
Management and managers at Prudential
put heavy emphasis on development of their employees.
I think that managers make it a point to utilize and develop
the stronger skills of their employees,
but at the same time broadening their horizons
through stretch projects and challenging them
to work on things and take on projects
that they wouldn't normally be involved with.
Now, from a personal standpoint, as a manager of people,
I make it a point to understand
what my employees are thinking from a long-term perspective
and try to emphasize along every step of the way
that they're trying to reach their goals
and doing something so that they are heading towards those goals.
Okay, so I think it sounds like we've got a plan.
I think one of the best examples
of diversity and inclusion at Prudential
is that my experience and my background in terms of education
is a little bit different from a lot of the other people
within my area, but that was absolutely encouraged
when I was brought into the group
because management saw the benefits
of complementary skill sets and complementary backgrounds,
and my opinion and thoughts
are valued along every step of the way
when you work on different projects.
