Hi, I'm Beth Schillaci owner of VillageWorks Communications and I speak a lot of times
at conferences and training on social media and marketing in general but what I want to
bring to South by Southwest is something totally different than what I usually talk about.
Let me give you a little background. About a year ago my daughter was watching Shark
Tank. Now mind you my daughter was 7 at the time and she decided she wanted to have a
business of her own. She was inspired by Barbara Corcoran, she's use to seeing her mom have
her own business for all these years so she wanted something of her own. We did a lot
of talking and a lot of research and decided making soap would be a great idea. She brought
the extra level of creativity of adding a toy to the soap to get kids to wash more and
there, lo and behold SoapPrizes was born. Little did I know as a business owner already,
that this was going to be a snowball going down the hill really fast, and what I would
like to do is bring that story to SXSW to let other entrepreneurs know how kids should
get a chance to be heard and be creative and start learning these entrepreneurial attributes
but also what their creativity and their attitude brings to a business. And how businesses can
really start thinking more like kids and achieving great results through things like social capital
and storytelling. So I would love to see you guys in March and talk more about this topic.
Until then, thanks.
