The great thing about the PGA show here in Orlando in 2012 is that you get to speak to
the people who actually designed the clubs. It's a great pleasure to introduce to you
Marty Jertson from Ping. We're looking at the G20 driver. Marty, you're one of the men
behind designing this club. What can it offer a player? Why should a player buy a G20. Well
the G20 when you look at it has a lot of weight low and back in the club head and what that
does is moves the centre of gravity down and back, this driver has a ton of inertia so
it's really straight, but it's also good for optimising launch conditions. Generally most
golfers want to launch the ball high with the right amount of spin. Generally high handicappers
are looking to get their spin down to hit it straighter. Not only further, but the less
spin you have, the less side spin you have. So not only to hit it further but also to
hit it straighter. So a fantastic high launch low spin driver aimed at what handicap range?
Really, I mean Bubba Watson uses this driver. This driver here, if we only had to build
one product the G20 would fit everybody. But that being said it has a ton of forgiveness.
The high handicappers are going to benefit the most from this driver but it can be used
by the best players in the world. One quick question Marty, what shaft length is in this
club and why is shaft length so vital nowadays? So our standard length is forty five and three
quarter inches and we study driver shaft length quite a bit and we found that to be the optimum
length to optimise trajectory but also to help golfers to get the right swing plane.
So the better players tend to play shorter drivers because they're stuck getting it more
underneath where as the average guy tends to come over it. So if we can get them in
the right length driver we can not only optimise launch conditions we can help them with their
swing as well. Fantastic. That’s the G20 driver for 2012 on Golfbidder. Thank you Marty.
