Momentum for summit talks between Korea, Japan, and the United States seems to be gaining
steam. Sources in Seoul say... the presidential office
of national security is looking into the possibility of holding trilateral talks... on the sidelines
of the Nuclear Security Summit in the Hague next week.
It cited thawing relations between Seoul and Tokyo... for the reason behind the move.
Last week, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe... pledged to honor a previous government
apology to Korean women... who were forced into *** slavery during World War II.
Seoul has emphasized... that talks are of no use if Tokyo doesn't act with sincerity
on historical disputes. But a government source says... a trilateral
summit may be possible,... especially considering that the U.S. has asked both Korea and Japan
to resolve their differences.
