Hi everyone. In this video, I will demonstrate how to activate the maintain holdings in WorldCat
feature to display your OCLC symbol on records in WorldCat that matches your selections in
the WorldCat knowledge base.
There are three simple steps involved to maintain your holdings in WorldCat for titles you selected
in the WorldCat knowledge base. First, choose the OCLC symbol to use. Second, activate the
maintain holdings feature for all of your WorldCat knowledge base collections. Then,
if you do not want to maintain holdings for a particular collection, you can disable this
feature for that specific collection.
Here we are in the WorldShare interface for my institution. I have clicked on Metadata
and then Manage Collections to expand my options.
First, I click Settings, then expand Knowledge Base. This is where you will choose the OCLC
symbol to use to maintain holdings in WorldCat. Save your choice.
Back in Manage Collections, click Library Holdings. Expand Maintain Holdings in WorldCat.
Choose Yes to turn on the maintain holdings feature for all collections in your WorldCat
knowledge base. Save your choice.
Then, if do not want to maintain holdings for a specific collection, you can disable
this feature for that collection. For example, I do not want to maintain holdings
in WorldCat for the titles in my Allen Press Journals collection. I will search for and display the Allen Press Journals collection.
Expand the Holdings and MARC Records accordion. In the section Maintain WorldCat Holdings,
choose Disable for this collection. Save your choice.
