Hello, I'm Colin, and here are today's headlines from Pinksixty,
A lesbian student in Alabama has won a victory after forcing her
school to back down over a gay rights t-shirt. School officials
told Sara Couvillon not the wear the shirt for her own safety but
immediately withdrew their request after being threatened
with a federal lawsuit.
A 21 year old man has admitted killing a gay university lecturer
in Edinburgh, Scotland, earlier this year. Pawel Rodak is accused of stabbing
Roger Gray at his home in March. The trial starts December 8th.
The Californian Senate has passed 'Seth's Law' to combat anti-gay
bullying in the State's schools. The bill follows a spate of gay
teen suicides over the past year, including that of 13 year old Seth Walsh.
Brisbane Pride has announced that next year's main event will move
from June to September, to take advantage of the warmer weather.
Other events will still take place in June, but the main festival hopes
to attract a larger attendance by the move.
And finally, Hong Kong is getting itself organised under the unifying 'Pink Season'
banner to host a 2 month season of events from October to November. Pink Season
includes the Mr Gay Hong Kong pageant, a film festival, Gay Day at
Disney and a boat party.
