Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we will show you how to sew our cuffed hem. We've
pressed it and it is all ready to sew. Just fold out the cuffed part and you are going
to sew a straight stitch and make sure that it is going to be hidden by the cuff when
you fold the cuff up. So we are going to sew it right along here and I like to start by
a seam, lower your foot and sew around, back up to knot it and so a straight stitch all
the way around. You can check to make sure that you are catching all of the fabric here.
Make sure that it is overlapped enough and you are catching that and continue all the
way around. Remove it from the machine and trim your threads. You can trim your threads
nice and close and then fold your cuff back up and as you can see, your hem is hidden
by the cuff. There it is and it is hidden. Now we are going to just tack up the cuff
at the seams and you put it in the machine. You go parallel or straight on the seam. I'll
show you that; lined up with the seam and straight stitch back and forth 1, 2 and trim
those close on both sides and then go to the other seam and repeat. Just to tack the cuff
up. Okay it is best to use a thread that matches the fabric exactly and that way you don't
see and there's your cuff. You can repress it just to get it good and flat if you want
at the end.
