Join associations.
I'm a member of the association since its founding in 2006.
Our goal was that, if there's volunteer work
if there's civil engagement, as we call it
then we could fight for the problems of our area.
And that goal of ours has numerous recipients.
First of all, society is on our side.
We ask support from doctors, we ask support from trade unions
and from various bodies.
As an association we have worked towards a cause.
We've tracked down and indicated our municipality's property.
They don't know what they have.
They have lost fountains of great value.
They have lost 'Alexander the Great' on Syggrou Avenue.
All of this has been lost and nobody knows how or why.
We have lobbied the municipality about their estates.
These estates can be turned into first aid health centres
and all kinds of things.
Lately, we have discovered something very important.
A donation to the municipality, a housing complex.
Can you believe it?
This is our goal, we don't know if we'll make it.
We're trying, nonetheless.
What gives me pleasure, as the president, at least
is the participation of the people.
We organise cultural events and many other things.
There's support, we listen to their problems.
At this point in time we have single parents coming to us.
They need doctors, medication, help.
We should be on their side.
Never mind the "troika", solidarity is unbeatable.
Volunteer work is unbeatable.
So, we invite the youth, I personally invite and ask the youth
and everyone, all of the citizens
to take a small step and get out of their homes.
I ask them to stop hiding in their homes.
I ask them to get involved with their neighbourhood.
Once, someone would cry for help and 15 people would run to him.
Now, if someone cries for help 15 people run away from him.
We need to function as a society.
In order to do that we should at least be on the frontline, be there.
