Hey guys this is Michael Trest
over at the Learning Enhancement Center
I wanted to give you a quick little run through of how to upload video to your content
This is the USM Eagle Learning Online
Template for Blackboard. You can follow along
if you’d like to. We’re going to go to course materials
and choose whatever week you want to put your video in
and if it were me, I would put the video in the materials folder
Here we are with a blank materials folder
The first thing I’m going to do is build content and create an item
Then I’m going give it a name
This method will work for any video on Youtube
TED, etc. Anything that allows you to
embed the video. Of course make sure that
you have permission to use the video, of course.
And that it is captioned. You don’t want to put non-ADA compliant video
in your course.
The first thing we’re going to do is click this little symbol right here (< >)
This opens up where you can put in HTML
For the purpose
of an example I’m going to use one of my videos that I’ve uploaded to Youtube.
A little After Effects test here.
This is inside Youtube.
You can click “Share”.
It’ll give you a link. If all you want to do is add the link
to the video thats fine, but I’m going to go one step further.
I’m going to click on “embed”. See it gives you
this HTML code. So I’m going to
right-click on that and copy it
. Then I’m going to go back to my blackboard course.
I’m going to paste that code in there.
After that I’m going to click submit.
And there we go.
So when the student
comes in
he or she clicks on week/unit 3
they go through reading the objectives, then they see the readings
then they get to the materials folder.
They now have the video right there in the course. They won’t have to
link out to Youtube and be distracted by all the viral (popular) videos.
out there. They can just stay focused. And then they can move on
into the activities. Like I said, this will work on any video
that has an embed code.
or a link to it. You can just link to the video if you’d like.
Feel free to contact us at
the Learning Enhancement Center if you have any questions.
Thanks for watching.
