If you have an International license you can actually use that but before doing that I
would suggest that you go to the Department of Transportation website. In some cases other
countries are not recognised so to be sure just do that and then after the 12 month period
you have to convert to a WA driver's license. If you don't have a driver's license you can
use a SmartRider. The SmartRider is a card wherein you can just 'tap' it on any public
transportation and then you can go around. Curtin has a bus station and it gets you to
Canning Bridge, I think there are certain buses that brings you to Canning Bridge or
even like Murdoch station. So you can actually take the train down to Mandurah or back to
the city. There are free buses around the city which
you could also use. They're called the Red CAT, Blue CAT. So that's for free. How do
you get the SmartRider? First you have to bring your student ID card with you and your
Enrolment advice go to any newstand or train station purchase the card say about $10-12
and this concession will expire in 7 days so you have to register online. Log in to
OASIS within the 7 day period and on the left-hand side there is a SmartRider tab. Click on that
tab and enter the serial number of your SmartRider and then you're good to go. And it saves you
a lot of money to be honest because it's quite expensive if you're not on a student concession.
