Hi, I'm Matt. I'm from Lititz, Pennsylvania, and I'm a recent graduate
of Towson University from the theatre arts department.
Coming out of high school I knew was gonna be a theatre major right out of the gate
and when it came around to Towson and I auditioned for the acting track here
between the professors I interacted with and the people I met auditioning with me,
I knew this was exactly where I was meant to be.
Classes in the theater department are really great. From your production design classes
like scenic design and lighting design, theater history, and script analysis
and then acting courses like Poise and Movement I, and
Acting I, II, and III, and an optional elective.
The professors in the department make it seem like a family.
One of my favorite performance classes I took at Towson was Voice II with Steve Satta.
It's kind of the last building block in the acting track, and it gives you a lot of
different tools you can use in building up your inner-artistic voice
to physical traits and exercises like laying on tennis balls to help stretch out your sternum
and give you a lot more breath support.
It really just gives you a lot of tools you can use for the rest of your career.
Over the four years I spent at Towson, I was in six mainstage shows,
with my final performance being in Macbeth
directed by Steve Satta, in which I played Macbeth himself.
If you want to be a major in theatre at Towson University
you're gonna want to get involved.
From the main-stage shows to the student-directed shows,
to directing scenes for the directing classes to our 24 hour play slam,
this department makes it easy for you to find your place in Towson's Theatre family.
