It is symbolic that you now return to the traditional love songs that started your career 20 years ago.
But didn’t you consider making a miscellany of your most popular hits
instead of presenting a new program on this anniversary?
It is the most traditional way to celebrate a performer’s anniversaries, yes.
But I do it at all my regular concerts.
And of course the number of my best songs increases with time (excuse me for being so immodest),
so it’s not possible to fit them all into a single concert anymore.
But I still try to perform my old hits, as I know the audience always expects them.
I decided to go back 20 years and sing traditional love songs in this future show,
as my fans have always been asking me to perform them.
Some of them love this period of my career the best.
So I thought – why not celebrate this anniversary in such a way?
I think today people, my fans, are more inclined to listen to some serious pieces of music
than regular pop-hits.
And it was a very difficult task to prepare this concert – we’ve been working on it for a year.
We had to change the acoustic backings to combine a philharmonic style with some modern approaches
and to use both to their maximum capabilities.
I hope my music producer Anatoliy Lopatin and I managed to achieve such an effect –
you should come to the show and see for yourselves.
I will perform not only traditional Russian love songs but also some 20th century hits.
I invited Raimond Pauls, David Tukhmanov and Igor Krutoy to be guest-performers.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to tour with this show around Russia
as I do with my regular concert programs, as this one is too costly.
But we’ll perform in Petersburg on November 25, in Moscow on December 2 and on March 6 in Yekaterinburg.
But just know I perform some songs from this anniversary program at my regular concerts.
Some other cities like Arkhangelsk and Voronezh offer to bring this program to them,
so everything is possible.
We also plan tours in England and Germany.
Have you changed your opinion on the music currently popular among young people over these 20 years?
There are a lot of young people in my family…
And what music do they prefer?
Each one of them has their own preferences.
Some time ago every young person had some strict stylistic preferences
– but now they like a great range of styles.
And I’m always interested in my kids’ opinion about my new songs, even if they criticize them.
