Tonight we have organized with the Chicago Cultural Arts Center in the city of Chicago.
This fantastic town hall event for Chicago Artists.
The Department of Cultural Affairs
organized this Chicago artist health care town hall
to provide an opportunity for one-on-one appointments with Navigators
to help people sign up for health insurance for the Affordable Care Act
and also to connect artists with the different healthcare organizations in
the city.
We have about 50 Navigators who are enrolling individuals who
either have questions or need assistance enrolling into health care
It's kind of just somebody holding my hand through the process so I could
really see what's out there and ask questions because it's daunting.
I haven't been insured in years.
To have health insurance
otherwise it's very scary to not have insurance
you never know what's going to happen. The plan I just chose
is fifty three eighty five a month,
that I can afford you know, so I've
got to say I am truly very happily
shocked. The website is pretty user friendly.
They have the two plans side by side and they can just go back and compare and
get the brochures and
there it is. They narrowed it down for me so that was helpful. The first thing I'm going to do when I
get back to my
studio building where there are 60 other artists, plus other artists I know around the
city, is tell them
get yourself to one of these meetings as soon as you can and get signed up
because
it's easy, it's affordable, and you need it
and now you finally can afford it. To learn more about community events
