I'm Dolina MacLennan.
I've been a teacher for eight years,
and work at Bun-sgoil GhĂ idhlig Inbhir Nis.
I'm teaching Primary Two and Three.
I'm John McGeachie, and I've been teaching for seven years.
I started working here in Condorrat a year ago.
I'm Michelle Mackenzie, and I work in Bun-Sgoil GhĂ idhlig Inbhir Nis.
I've just completed my probation, so this is my first year,
and I'm teaching Primary One.
I'd say 90% of the children aren't Gaelic speakers,
but they pick it up incredibly quickly.
At that age, it's like learning anything else,
and doesn't take very long for them to become fluent in the language.
It's hard to believe how quickly they learn, but they enjoy it.
Things have changed a lot since I was in school.
We spent a lot of time with books and textbooks,
and doing lots of writing,
but the Curriculum for Excellence places more emphasis on activities
and learning through play,
use of computers, ICT and so on.
When I was in school, I didn't have the opportunities they have now,
and we didn't learn much outside the classroom.
Now, we encourage children to use the library,
different rooms and also the garden.
I currently teach Primary 4/5.
It's quite different.
Teaching through the medium of Gaelic demands creativity
because you're teaching in a different way,
and, to a degree, in two languages
which requires different teaching techniques.
I find it very interesting. Every day is different.
