for in this special sit down Anthony
parent founding partner of IRS Medic answers
your tax questions
in this video I am gonna talk about what to do when you get certified
mail
from the IRS you know the IRS is unlike
most creditors that if a creditor is looking to take money from you
they are gonna have to sue you in court but the IRS doesn't
have to do that
all they need to do is send you a few notices are one of them being certified
and then they're free levy your wages,
your bank accounts and even accounts receivable that you may have
also before the IRS imposes any new
additional tax they will send you a certified letter
now believe it or not lot of people never open
they're certified mail from the IRS they have a feeling that
if they don't see it if it never comes on their premises
that is not operative and I can certainly understand the fear
who does want to get certified mail from the IRS and it's also something that you
probably don't understand
but this is the thing you absolutely must pick up your certified mail from
the IRS you
absolutely must open it no matter how scary it feels
you're not doing yourself any favor and this is this is the reason why
in those certified letters there's going to be certain appeal rights
knows appeal rights are really powerful and we know we really love it when our
clients come in
and still have these appeal rights on the table because it really gives us a
lot more leverage to find much more
better solution they would have then if they don't have that appeal right
that number one appeal that we are allowed to do is something called the
collection due process hearing and this is something where we'll
will be able to talk to home IRS appeals
officer to find more creative solution
is not open it this avenue can close if people don't respond to those letters
and the other thing is if we do respond the collection process hearing in time
we still have a right to take to take the case to tax court
a lot over cases don't go to tax court but the threat that we might
take it to tax court
is something appeals officer has to consider
we're working together to get a solution solution this is
