Jamey Aebersold’s name is all over the world.
I don’t know how many thousands, hundreds of thousands,
of records and CD’s and education material
has been sold through his company.
He’s definitely the largest publisher and
distributor of Jazz Education Material in the world.

The Camp, this is the 35th year I believe it’s been here at the School of Music.
We do it because it brings all these wonderful students of all ages,
they’re from 8 years old to 80, and we see a lot of them repeatedly,
the older ones, we see younger ones students,
and we want to recruit, come onto campus.
I just spoke with a lady from Hong Kong
who wants to do an exchange with our program,
so it’s been a wonderful resource for the School of Music
and Jazz Studies program and the University because we’re getting
people here who would never have stepped on campus.

I have students that are barely able to play and I see,
you know, it’s time to come, because you want to be around all these
other people who have the same interest you have, the same energy,
there’s a lot of energy coming out of here, uh,
for me as an educational opportunity, every day I walk in,
even though I’ve been with these guys for forty years
these are the leading educators in the world in this music.
So, I encourage everybody to come because it's
an opportunity to experience the music first hand
and to get in with people who play so well and it’s an opportunity
for you to find out who you are and to see if you really want to play and if not,
if you just want to listen to it.
It doesn’t matter cause it a matter that when you learn,
you work on jazz, unlike some other disciplines, there is never an end.
You’re never, you never stop improvising,
you never stop existing in this world,
and it carries over into your life as a person.
So, I think it’s a wonderful experience.
