>> Joe: E3 is bombarding video game lovers this week with juicy teases of all the new
gaming goodness coming out in the near future, but elsewhere on the net is a man by the name
of Michael Thompson, the collector king of old-school games and consoles, who is putting
the world's largest video game collection up for sale.
>> Matt: Recognized by the records-loving Guineess Book of World Records, Michael's
collection boasts over 11,000 games and over 100 consoles.
>> Joe: What's your favorite game Matt?
>> Matt: Chrono Trigger.
>> Joe: Oh yeah, he has got that. Name the most obscure game you know.
>> Matt: Um. Yes, Prime Minister.
>> Joe: Got it. Make up a game.
>> Matt: (weird unpronounceable game title)
>> Joe: There is a high probability that Michael retains that game. His collection is nuts.
He has complete U.S. sets for 21 different systems including well-known devices like
3D0 and Sega Saturn, and lesser known fare like AGP X-System and Captain Power.
>> Matt: He has also stashed away near complete collections for a slew of other systems and
scattered throughout his horde are loads of imports.
>> Joe: How did he get so many games, Matt?
>> Matt: I'll tell you. This dude has been immersed in the world video games for over
25 years, operating a bunch of gaming stores through out the 90s and oughts.
>> Joe: So, he was constantly poised in first position for prime pickings. He had sift through
inventories, lock onto the best of the best, and abduct them for his secret stash.
>> Matt: Over 8,300 of his games come complete with box and manual and over 2600 are slowly
suffocating in their never ever opened factory shrink-wrap.
>> Joe: If you're curious as to what games you'll get if you decide to drop a ***,
here's the list.
>> Matt: You'll also get 400 other games not on that list that have been added since
Guiness got up in his business back in 2012. Now why would he sell his ultimate collection,
Joe?
>> Joe: I'll tell ya, Matt. Straight up, he needs to support his family. It was a total
no brainer for him. Twas a true and noble sacrifice by the Keeper of the Pixels.
>> Matt: If you're interested in becoming the new King of Games, the auction is taking
place over at GameGavel and the bidding runs through Sunday, June 15th. Oh, and added bonus,
drop that winning bid and you also get a lifetime subscription to, and all the back issues of,
Retro Magazine.
>> Joe: Get popping on those extra shifts at Arbys though, the current bid stands at
750,250 coins.
>> MegaMattX Lieberman: Good luck. Guys, thanks for watching, I'm MegaMattX Lieberman.
>> Jono Trigger Bereta: And I'm Jono Trigger Bereta.
