Local musician Tahiti Rey
describes her sound as a
mix of acoustic, soul,
and folk. AND -- she's
dedicated to
supporting community
organizations for
children. Tahiti Rey
joining us in studio to
talk more...
Describe your passion
for music and where you
get inspiration. My
passion for music started
from my love for watching
my father, Augie Rey,
perform as a child. The
way he connected with
people always moved me.
Bringing a smile,
laughter, and sometime
tears to peoples hearts
is what I love the most
about music. Giving
people permission to feel
and moving them to that
emotion through music is
why I love what I do so
deeply. What is your
schedule for upcoming
shows? I perform all
over town, The Modern
twice a week, Manifest,
Tikis, Dukes, and always
at least 1 or 2 WEDDINGS
a week. Describe your
involvement with
community organizations.
I am connected with 2
organizations that I am
deeply committed to
supporting, both
involving children. Make
'Um Smile, where I sing
hospital door to door for
children at
Kapiolani/Shrine rs
Hospitals bringing a bit
of music and joy to their
very painful and precious
lives. The other is the
ARIA Foundation that I
wrote a theme song for
the foundation and once
recorded, all profits
will benefit their
organization that brings
clean water to
impoverished countries
and helps rescue children
who are victims of Child
Trafficking.
