Hi everyone
This is the House of the Dead Overkill - The Lost Reels if you really really want a
long long title for YouTube!
Basically, it's House of the Dead. If you've ever played this, going back
Sega Megadrive maybe, PlayStation
certainly one of the oldest running titles out there. The idea is you have to survive the
zombies, you've got to shoot them, get ammo etcetera and just generally
get out alive.
As you progress through the game you unlock new stages. The graphics are really nice, I'm not sure what game engine
they're using it feels very Unreal.
Hoorah!
As you can see, great graphics, let's just get this tutorial bit out of the way. I got a brand new
Galaxy S4 yesterday and I've not had the chance to transfer over all my saved games yet.
Unlike
previous titles that I reviewed
this one is much more about having to aim. You stay in one place and you're on
rails as you move around
between these encounters but the idea is you've got to shoot these zombies
in the head preferably
you can get combos for where you shoot people and how
well you do,
all the usual kind of stuff but the whole way the title plays is very much
a classic House of the Dead style thing. You have to aim,
get those head shots in and so on.
One of the things that I found was a little bit weird, I know the game's called The Lost Reels
but they've kind of spoiled the look and feel of the game a little bit with
this kind of faux vintage
film effect. You can see these lines running across the screen. I mean, it's
cute and all but it gets old very very quickly
a little bit like a stale zombie corpse.
And it would just have been nicer if they hadn't kind of spoiled the
aesthetics of the game by adding aesthetics to the game.
You've got various different weapons. You've got a shotgun, you've also got the pistol.
I think later on there's things like sniper rifles available as well, reloading down the side there, there's your fire button
and you've just got waste as many zombies as you can.
Obviously you've got to watch those reloads
these zombies are very slow by the way
and ponderous.
They don't pose too much of a challenge early on.
You really do want those all important head shots.
But yes, for House of the Dead game they've done a very good job at converting it across
with the graphics looking quite as good as this
there's a lot of fun gameplay here as well and so
I would certainly say it's worth picking up.
It's not a free to play title you're doing to have to throw some cash down for it
you'll have to throw some cash down for it
it's about £4 I think,
but it's a good title, it's certainly what you would class as a triple A
you know, maybe not
superior as a title like Dead Trigger but it's certainly a very very good title and if you've played any of the
House of the Dead games before you're really going to be at home with this particular title.
Die zombie die.
Again!
