And don’t forget, GeniusDV also offers flat rate onsite Final Cut Pro training.
Final Cut Pro supports an unlimited number of video layers.
Check out this short example.
“They run into burning buildings to recsue people, while their opponents sweep the bad
guys off the streets.
“Both are dedicated to serving the public, but now the only thing that matters is their
training.”
If you have a project that contains many layers of video, you may find it easier to use something
called a compound clip to help manage your timeline.
This is important, if you plan on using a larger clip appearance within the timeline.
You can change the clip appearances by clicking on the clip appearance button in the lower
right corner of the timeline window.
In doing so, you can see how it’s easy to run out of room within the timeline while
trying to navigate within your project.
So you can see right here, I’ve got three clips stacked on top of each other.
You can collapse these clips into something called a compound clip, which will give you
extra room to navigate.
To do this, select a stack of clips within the timeline window.
Then, right click on them and choose new compound clip from the contextual menu.
The selected clips will then collapse down into a single compound clip.
The great thing about a compound clip, is it can be moved around like any other clip.
If you need to make changes, you can break apart a compound clip by right clicking on
it and choose break apart clip items.
Or, you can leave your compound clip alone and right click on it to open it as its own
timeline.
In doing so Final Cut Pro X will focus specifically on your compound clip, which will make it
easier to make changes to your project.
For example, I’ll click on the generators browser button to find a new background clip.
So now, I can easily replace part of this background within the compound clip using
this underwater background.
When you are finished, navigate to the top of the timeline window and press the left
arrow to go back to original project.
Okay, that’s it!
Check it out.

Now got the basics of working with a compound clip.
