Hi! Welcome to this new video
Today I will show you
some basic notions of adobe illustrator
It is useful to draw logos and other kind of drawings
Well we will focus on the basics
on the workspace
on the drawing of simple objects and on fill and stroke colors
Let's start! Open the program
When we open we can see the workspace
The workspace is the space all around the window
It is composed by different parts
On the left there's the most important tools panel
Then, on the top, there's the application bar with windows menus
And finally the vertical panel groups characterised by icons on the right
There's also the possibility to change the order of icons, panels and tools
We can edit the order just dragging the panels
or using the workspace switcher
Moreover we can save the workspace with all the position of panels
But I will use the default workspace of Illustrator
Let's create a new document
go to file and select new
we can see that a window pops out
with the specifics of the document
In this case we will create
a 800x600 file (for web)
below you can read the area, the height, the width and others
that we can edit
anytime
choose a name for the file and click ok
it's possible to create more than one artboard
with the specific tool for that
now workspace is ready to use
we can see every part of it
there's the control panel
with the name of the file
while under the sheet we can see information with zoom and number
it's important to know that with Illustrator
you can use, as in photoshop
keyboard shortcuts
that will help you in your workflow
we can see it as example
to create a new file
you can use CTRL+N
as appears here
combinations are useful
when you are drawing
and sometimes they are indispensable
Icons on the left of workspace
are called tools
there are 8 classes of tools
first is composed by selection tools
represented by this 5 elements here, on the top
there are 4 with one hidden
there are hidden tools
you can see it by clicking the black little triangle
To see them just drag on to that triangle
then there are the drawing tools
following the panel we have:
reshaping tools
painting tools
graph tools
slicing and cutting tools
the hand, zoom
and fill and stroke colors
To begin is important only to learn some basics tools
Let's draw a rectangle
select rectangle tool
there are two ways to draw anything in illustrator
First one is to click in the sheet
and set manually the height and the width in pixels
second way is just to drag in the sheet
we have just drown a rectangle
To select and move it
we have to choose the selection tool or V on the keyboard
mouse will become black
Now let's draw a particular rectangle
the square
in this case we must press SHIFT while we are drawing a rectangle
It's the same for all the other kind of shapes
such as rounded rectangle or ellipse
Generally we use SHIFT
when we want to create a regular shape as a square, a circle etc
For all the other simple shapes
you have to use polygon tool
setting the number of sides
Or using the drag and drop method
with up and down arrows of the keyboard
You can use it also for the star tool
You can also draw line segments, arcs
spirals, rectangular and polar grids
with drag and drop
You can also draw regular line segments and arcs
with shift key
Spirals more twisted with up and down arrows
And regular rectangular and polar grids with shift key
Now to change color to the shapes
select the shape
And select color on the right side
you can change fill color and stroke color
you can choose also other color models RGB, CMYK, HSB, grayscale
