And it is also very popular in the hunting scenario [...]

"Gesticulate!"
Hi everyone!
One more video of No Alvo today.
After many requests
we’re going to talk about the compound bow.
But before we start,
I want to tell you about these shirts
that the portal tiro.com.esp.br is making.
They’re very nice.
At their Facebook profile or at the portal itself
you can find the several other models available.
The compound bow can be said as the most modern bow existing.
It was invented only on the 60’s
by the american Holless Wilbur Allen,
who also pantented the bow.
This kind of bow is very popular.
You can see it a lot in movies,
and games.
It is known for being way more fast and accurate,
and has more aids.
The compound bow is not olympic,
despite the efforts of the International Archery Federation (FITA/WA)
to put it into the Olympic Program.
But in the Paralympic Games the compound has already
It has changed,
it’s not Paraolympic,
it’s Paralympic...
But it is Paralympic, and actually,
in the 2012 Games it has already awarded medals.
So, just like my bow, which is the olympic recurve,
the compound is also devided into riser and limbs.
Limbs on the extremes.
But the biggest difference is, as you can see here:
it has got cams.
That is because the limbs of the compound are way stiffer.
But the cams absorb part of the tension,
making it possible to shoot with a much higher poundage,
given by the stiffer limbs.
With a higher poundage,
the arrows will fly more accurately,
and will also be less affected by the wind.
And because of that, in competitions,
the compound bows have a limited poundage.
They can’t have more than 60lbs.
A big difference here is that it’s got 3 strings.
And they’re necessary to do all the work of the cams.
They provide something we call Let-Off.
That is, when we draw the bow,
instead of becoming heavier and heavier,
when you reach the limit, it actually gets lighter.
Because the cams absorb the tension.
In some compound bows that poundage reduction
might reach 80%.
An accessory that adds a lot of accuracy to the compund’s shot
is this piece that we call Release.
We don’t pull the strings with the fingers.
We use the release.
There’s this circle on the string, called Loop.
So we bind the release, and using it,
we pull the string.
A last element that gives a lot of accuracy is the aiming system.
Besides the regular sight here,
we have in the string the Peep.
This small circle we will use to align with the sight.
So that we’ll have a way to align the bow.
It works like in a gun,
where you have rear and front sights.
In addition, the sight can have magnifying glass and even
a spirit level.
So everyone, this is our video for today.
Hope you liked it, since so many people asked me
to talk about the compound bow.
No doubt it is very interesting.
Remember that you can always send us questions and suggestions.
