hello everybody it's Haluna Matata with my first, in what I HOPE to be a series
of video guides teaching you ways to make GIL in Final Fantasy 14.
Today I'm going to be looking at the simplest of the methods, and that's using the Disciplines
of the Land to gather yourself some gil. Whilst it may not be THE most efficient in terms
of time to gil ratios, it IS reliable and there's
certainly a modest amount of gil to be made, and when used in conjunction with the Discilpines
of the Hand can net you a lot of extra gil. Whilst the guide is intended for people with
level 50 in at least 1 Discipline of the Land, you can use the same method for lower levels,
barring the rare nodes.
SO the guide's split into 3 sections. The first is how to identify items that are worth
your time to gather, the second is how to maximise efficiency gathering these items,
and the third is concerned with the rare nodes.
So let's get started. First of all you'll need something you can take notes on, pen
and paper or notepad is fine. You'll also want to set yourself a minimum price for your
items, for me I wasn't interested in anything below 70 gil on
Lich but this'll vary from person to person and server to server. Get yourself to a market
board and open up your gathering log. The items levelled 1-10 generally aren't worth
your time as they can be bought cheaply from vendors so
starting at level 11+ type every item on your gathering list into the market board and note
down anything that's above your minimum price and note down where you can get them. Also
make sure you check the selling history, some items
may be a high price but in low demand. No-one farms them because no-one wants them so the
price may appear artificially high. If an item hasn't sold a lot in the past few days,
assume it won't be worth your time to gather, or at least
do not gather a high amount of that item.
. In regards to crystals, do not
look at the lowest price on the market board as it's a bot infested market, use the selling
history to check what people are buying small amounts
of crystals for and treat that as their price instead. People would rather buy 100 crystals
at 100 gil each than 5000 crystals at 50 gil each on the whole.
Whilst it's a pretty simple system of gathering, you'd be surprised how many people don't maximise
their efficiency whilst gathering so I'll provide tips to help make your gathering quicker,
they may be redundant if you're already doing them. My most consistent income is from Button
Mushrooms in Eastern Thanalan. They're always in demand because 3 are used for every Buttons
in Blankets, which is probably the most common food used at end-game. There'll always be
4 nodes in an area, and in the majority of cases 3
of which have a bonus. 1 node will provide no bonus, 1 will increase the chance of succesful
gathers, 1 will increase the chance of gathering HQ items, and 1 will provide an additional
gathering attempt. To maximise your efficiency farming you want to find out which one gives
an extra attempt and form a triangle path, visiting only 3 of the 4 nodes. When you get
there you want you'll want to use either Blessed Harvest II or King's Yield II and every subsequent
time you visit the node with 500+ GP. Since a large amount of the time you spend gahtering
is spent travelling between nodes, make sure you hotkey your mount so that you can use
it to travel between them. Eventually you'll get
used to the timing and can mount as soon as it comes available. You'll be running circles
around your competitors by using these simple tricks.
Lastly is the supposed "end-game" for gatherers at present, which takes the form of the rare
nodes that spawn at certain times in eorzea. To take full advantage of these I'd advise
having BOTH botany and mining at 50, as the timings
for the materials you want line up with each other. I'd also suggest you have a few cordials
to hand. Whilst they may seem a little expensive, consider how much time you spend waiting around
instead of gathering and make an informed decision as to whether it is worth using on
your server. It's possible to do without but you'll have a fair bit of down time. Anyway,
make sure you set your time to ET, and the times to look out for are 1am, and 9am. At
11:30pm and 7:30am refrain from using any skills which
require GP as you'll be needing it very soon. At 1am you can harvest both crawler coccoons
from Little Solace in East Shroud, and Darksteel Ore just south of Camp Dragonhead in Coerthas.
It doesn't really matter which order you do them in so long as you get there as soon as
possible after 1am so you can gather them both. I have two methods of gathering these
items, both of which require at least 600 GP and the MINIMUM
PERCEPTION TO HQ of 320. The first is (almost) purely normal quality gathering. If you use
King's Yield II or Blessed Harvest II and Sharp Vision II or Field Mastery II then you
will have an 100% chance of gaining 25 of your selected
material, and a 1% chance of gethering HQ along the way (and it CAN happen, I once got
10 HQ Gold ore and 15 NQ). The second is a less reliable method I use for when I've got
an abundance of the NQ material that I can't seem to shift.
First you want to clear the rock using Toil of the Mountaineer & Toil
of the Pioneer and then you want to use Unearth II or Leaf Turn II. This gives you a 90%+
chance of gathering plus a 31%+ chance of obtaining HQ. In addition if you manage to
get 5 successful gathers to start with then your last is a
guranteed HQ attempt using brunt force or deep vigor. Issue with this is that if you
miss a gather early on then you end up losing out a fair bit compared to the 100%, so i
wouldn't advise using this unless you have more NQ than you
can shift in the forseeable future. So go use your chosen
method at one of the nodes, use a cordial and go collect from the other. At 9am just
proceed to do the same thing to gather Gold Ore at the Waterfall in Eastern Thanalan,
and gathering Spruce logs north of Camp Dragonhead in Coerthas.
For the NQ method I can reliably earn approximately 25,000 gil per hour on my server for about
10 minutes effort (probably the best time to gil ratio in the game), then you factor
in the normal gathering which can get me another
30-40,000 gil and I'm earning about 60,000 gil an hour, which is pretty respectable after
2.1, the bots and the market crash.
That's it for today, if you found the video helpful make sure you let me know and stay
tuned I'll be releasing more videos focusing on crafting. Thanks for watching and take
care.
