Hi everyone and welcome back to Hair with Hollie. So today we are going to do a curly
up-do for you because we've had a lot of requests from you curly haired ladies looking for a
quick and easy style to do. So what we're going to do is really romantic, really soft.
Kind of a Taylor Swift inspired look. [music]
Okay, so we're going to start off with the hair parted slightly to the side. It just
gives a little but more of a dramatic look and makes it a little bit more formal. So
first off all I'm going to section off this part of the hair. So just kind of using in
around the ear as a guide, we're just section that away and then come back to that at the
end of the style.
Now, so I have the first big section back. There we go, just pin that in place and we're
going to come back to that later on. So I'm just going to section off the same bit I sectioned
off in the front on the other side too. So you have kind of a halo of hair to play with
after you've done the back style.
With the back of the hair, what we're going to do here is we're going to work with the
natural texture. So some beautiful curls so there's no need to curl it. But if you have
straighter hair it might be an idea to pop a few curls in just to give it a bit of movement.
So if you have quite a lot of natural volume that's brilliant. So what we're going to do
here is we're going to take the first layer off of the top of the head. Just back comb
it ever so slightly all the way back towards the crown just to give it a bit of lift like
that. The clips I'm going to use today on this hair, just because it's a bit curlier
and a bit thicker, we're not going to use normal curling grips. We're going to use something
like that. So it's just a wider clip that you can kind of twist in behind the hair and
it helps to anchor curly hair a bit better. So with this we're just going slide it in
and then turn the clip back on itself and you'll find that it anchors the hair a lot
better and it kind of gives that softer look that you get with curly hair.
So once you're happy with your little anchored piece here, just going to keep adding to it
with sections of the hair. So just cross over gently. It's great with curly hair because
you don't have to be too careful because the texture really adds to the look. Taking these
front sections here, I'm going to twist them ever so slightly and then pin in place again.
So because we have a lot of hair here I'm going to section off into three sections.
So just do that depending on how much hair you have. And with the middle section we're
just going to roll it up really gently and make it meet up at our half section here.
Again pop it in with your curvy grips. So once you're happy that your middle bit is
anchored we're just going to start on the side bits. So with these you can be a bit
more creative so we're going to twist them over each other. This is lovely if you're
coloring your hair as well because you can really start to see the blonde tones coming
out. Twist the hair over to reach like so and then work it around the bit you have anchored
and then simply slot into place using your grips.
So we're going to do exactly the same thing on this side. Simply twist the hair around
each other so you really get to see the different tones and highlights in the hair.
So now we're going to take down this front section that we have from earlier and what
you can do here is if you find in the front of your hair lacks definition, you can maybe
add in a curl with a curling wand or a little GHD. But we have loads of texture here so
I don't think we're going to need it. So what we're going to do here is we're going to twist
the hair back into the other style just working with the natural texture of the hair, really
showcasing the curl here, it's so beautiful. And let it go a little bit loose so you can
kind of see the twist. So I'm going to bring this back in at the top of the other style.
So we're looking to get a really romantic look here, something quite soft so it can
be quite soft, you don't need to pull it back too tightly and it doesn't need to bee too
perfect either. So again just following the texture of the hair. It's so pretty. Working
the back end and then pin into place. So I'm just going to do the exact same thing I just
did here on the other side.
So with the front section of the hair, if you want you can work it back into the style
and just pin it in place with a curvy grip or you can leave it loose, whatever you like
just add in that real soft romantic look. So there you have it guys. The really soft
romantic kind of Taylor Swift inspired up-do for you curly haired girls. So do drop a comment
in the box below and let us know what you'd like to see here next week.
