I'm here to talk to you about why high-performance athletes get under chiropractic care. The
answer to that question is really in most competition, the competition is played between
the ears. It's what happens up here, you know you've heard the saying, "It's ninety percent
mental." Well, the mental impulses that occur inside the brain, have to somehow get into
somebody's body. Into their muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Usually the difference between
a winner and a loser- I don't know if you've watched the Olympics, but Michael Phelps.
The difference between the gold medal and the silver medal was milliseconds. That transmission
of neurological impulses out into those muscles, ligaments, and tendons happens at a very accelerated
rate. All of those messages have to go down from the brain, down the spinal cord, out
in between the bones to every muscle. For an athlete muscles, ligaments, and tendons
are usually what they are using. They also have to use their lungs and their heart, their
digestive system. All of those things play a factor. The faster those mental impulses
can reach those tissues, the better that athlete is able to perform.
With a chiropractic adjustment, all we do as a form of care is remove what we call subluxation
(a lack of, or an interference, of the flow of neurological energy). Again, the game is
ninety percent mental, but those mental impulses have to get into the physiology, and that
all travels down through the spinal cord and in between the bones. If a bone is causing
irritation, which is what we call subluxation, the only way to function at a higher level
is to remove the interference. The way that we do that here in Las Vegas, Nevada at Back
Care Chiropractic is by way of the chiropractic adjustment. I usually use my hands or an instrument
to help somebody, high-performance athletes, or even people who are athletes in high school
who just want to perform at a better level. If somebody has had a sports injury, usually
they respond and heal better if they have been under care before they have an injury.
We also have a variety of therapy equipment that helps high-performance athletes to increase
their strength and stamina at a very, very accelerated pace. If you have a question about
a sports injury or sports enhancement to help your game to be good mentally and physically,
give our office a call (702) 222-9066.
