Hey this is Sean from sleepinglikealog.com, a site that shows you how to buy a mattress
and get better sleep, and in this video I'm going to be reviewing the Tempur-Pedic Cloud
Luxe.
The Tempur-Pedic Cloud Luxe is Tempur-Pedic's softest model by far. Tempur-Pedic, they produce
different blends, and different blends feel softer some of them feel firmer, so what they
do on this one is they put Tempur-ES, which stands for Tempur "extra soft" in the top
portion, and it kind of emulates like a pillow top effect. It's very soft.
Beneath that is a layer of their Tempur-HD, which stands for Tempur "high density." The
high density material is actually the firmest but it's also the best for relieving pressure
so you definitely get really good support on this one. And beneath that are two more
layers of the Tempur material with dual air channels that run throughout the mattress
so air can circulate.
This model is best for people who prefer a softer feel. If you happen to like a soft
kind of pillow top normal mattress, chances are you'll probably like the cloud luxe. If
you sleep a lot on your side, this is definitely the way to go. It's a lot easier, in my opinion,
on the shoulders and the hips, it kind of eases up pressure on the rotator cuff so,
you'll be able to stay on your side longer before you get the urge to toss and turn throughout
the night.
Um, I think it's important to know that Tempur-pedic's material is different from any other kind
of memory foam out there. They are the innovators, they really um, they took the original blend
from NASA way back in the day when NASA actually developed it for use in the space shuttles,
the Tempur-Pedic scientists were the first to take this material and turn it into a mattress.
It's, it's different from any other kind of memory foam out there because it is a little
bit more responsive, whereas other commodity memory foams like the cheaper kinds out there
that you might find at like Costco or something, those are essentially just compressing underneath
you, this is more responsive. So, it's responding to the shape of your body, your weight and
temperature, and that's how it's filling in all the gaps and conforming to keep you in
a nice, natural alignment. It does work a little bit differently.
Owner reviews for Tempur-Pedic tend to be pretty positive. Online reviews are generally
pretty good, and that correlates to my experience selling these so, the feedback is generally
positive, and I think that's because people who end up buying Tempur-Pedic, they tend
to like it right away. So, and if you like it right away chances are you're going to
like it the more you sleep on it. It's um, it can take a little bit of getting used to,
uh it can take up to three months sometimes to fully adjust, but once you adjust it's
great and people -- once they adjust to this they, they never want to go back to a conventional
innerspring mattress typically.
Some pros and cons, pros to this mattress -- It's very good for relieving pressure points.
I think, when it comes to memory foam, Tempur-Pedic is probably one of the best if not the best
as far as relieving pressure points. It's very comfortable, it's very soft. And, they're
very durable, they'll last a long time. They're actually tested to last forty three years.
Now, they'll give a twenty five year warranty on these, but they'll actually outlast their
own warranty typically so, and it's just because the material is so resilient that it does
takes forever for it to break down.
Some potential cons to the Tempur-Pedic Cloud Luxe, some people complain that it does sleep
hot. And that is because Tempur's material is temperature sensitive so, it's responding
-- partly the way that it conforms to you is responding to your body heat so, it's gonna
kind of hold onto that heat a little bit in the top layers there so...if you tend to sleep
hot at night chances are you're probably going to notice that this mattress is a little bit
warmer. If you talk to Tempur-Pedic directly they'll say that most people who own a Tempur-Pedic
don't complain about it getting hot but, a little bit of insider information -- that
is completely not even remotely close to my experience. I've heard it from countless people
over the years, I mean countless. So, it is an issue, but for other people it's just not
an issue. So...
Another issue could be that if you're trying to create a more eco-friendly environment
in your house, this is definitely not eco-friendly. This is a one hundred percent petroleum derived
synthetic material. And if you've done any research on petroleum chemicals and things
like that um, they're not exactly eco-friendly. So, if you're trying to be more green, live
a more green lifestyle, this is not it.
