The Mamie E. Jenkins building was built in 1909, and following extensive renovation,
debuted in the spring of 2011 as the home of the Honors College.
The mission of the Mamie Jenkins building is to support the academic and co-curricular
activities of the Honors College. Innovative, specially designed and selected
courses are offered exclusively to honors students in our state-of-the-art seminar room.
The seminar room is equipped with smart technology to foster creative ideas and intellectual
success not just in the classroom, but beyond. The gallery displays incredible artwork and
houses various special events. This is where our Honors Ambassadors collaborate in hopes
of creating a more successful program for themselves as well as students to come.
The student library serves as a multi-purpose room. Two computers and unlimited free printing
is an attractive benefit for honors students. Not only can students conduct group work,
meetings and studying here, but they also join their peers for a break from the books.
Access to the kitchen allows studies to continue uninterrupted.
This historic home for the Honors College facilitates the success of the best and brightest
at East Carolina; success which will better our university, our community, our state,
and our world.
