for this section we'll be using google docs to demonstrate the broad network access characteristic
of the cloud.
many people that think about the cloud consider broad network access to be the defining characteristic
of the cloud.
the truth is that broad network access is just one of the five characteristics of the
cloud.
many of the other characteristics are often overlooked for this particular one.
when trying to determine whether or not something is available via the cloud remember to look
for the other four characteristics, not just whether or not the application is web accessible.
you can see here that i am already in my google docs account, so i'm going to go up to the
top and select create new and choose presentation.
it will then open up a brand new presentation for me.
just like microsoft power point, google docs' presentation comes with a number of pre-formatted
slide templates.
once i'm done editting my slide, i can choose from the available templates to create a new
slide.
google docs also has additional functionality.
you can share documents with other users and you can create forms to populate your spreadsheets.
google docs is not the only cloud based document editor; microsoft has developed its office
web apps, and there is another tool called zoho which allows you to create not only presentations
and documents, but a number of other things as well.
