U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has confirmed the death of the son of Oklahoma
Senator Jim Inhofe. Fifty-two-year-old Perry Inhofe, an orthopedic
surgeon, was killed over the weekend after the small twin-engine plane he was piloting
crashed in northeast Oklahoma. (Via YouTube / csosortho)
He was flying from Salina, Kansas to Tulsa, Oklahoma when the Tulsa International Airport said
his plane issued a request asking for immediate assistance. (Via KOCO)
Shortly after, his plane crashed — five miles north of the airport in a wooded area
near Owasso, Oklahoma. (Via Al Jazeera) Hagel confirmed Perry Inhofe's death Monday
night in statement. "My thoughts and prayers are with Jim and
Kay and their family as they mourn this terrible loss." (Via U.S. Department of Defense)
Perry Inhofe was a licensed pilot and flight instructor according to the Federal Aviation
Administration. Fox News reports Jim Inhofe is also an avid pilot, logging more than 11,000

Perry was the only victim reported in the crash. Senator Inhofe's office has yet to
release any statement.
