Hello and welcome to this presentation of the Poetic Edda
Today I'm gonna speak Swedish instead of English, since the book is translated into Swedish by Lars Lönnroth
It was first published in 2016 by Atlantis Bokförlag
And it's part of the series: Atlantis väljer ur världslitteraturen
The dust-jacket has an illustration of Freja or Freyja in Old Norse
It was painted by the artist John Bauer, and I can also recommend Dr. Jackson Crawford's YouTube channel
If you are interested in Scandinavian Languages, Old Norse or Norse Mythology
His videos are always very interesting
And he is also an expert in the subjects so I will leave a card in the top right corner to his channel
The book is bound in paper with engravings on the front cover and on the spine
The endpapers are blood coloured and the paper is thick
And here is the title page: we can see that Lönnroth has written the introduction and the notes to the text
The book was bound and printed in Latvia and the paper is acid-free pH neutral paper that is called Munken Premium Creme 100 g
Which is a tree-free paper
You can see a page of the Codex Regius on the picture (or the Kings Book), which is the main source for the Poetic Edda
The Poetic Edda is not written by a single person but it's instead a collection of verses and poems
But Snorre Sturlasson's Prose Edda is written by one person
And maybe you saw the contents just now, the book contains the Mythological poems, Heroic lays, added writings, suggested literature, glossary and a name register
On the left we have the text from the Poetic Edda, and on the right are the notes
The paper is very thick, cream coloured and it's a good quality paper
The book is 526 pages long
The book is sewn but I'm pretty sure it's not smyth-sewn (hard to tell), and the spine is rounded
And the book is very hard to open up, as you can see
But I hope you enjoyed this video, if you have any questions then please leave a comment and I'll answer it as quickly as I can

Thank you so much for watching and I hope I will see you next time but I wont be speaking Swedish then! :) Good bye!
