The 2010 Census is very important
because undercounting has been an issue.
Particularly for LGBT folks and people of color and other people
who really need to be counted so the resources can be spread
across the board in a more equitable way.

Those few minutes to complete the form can mean a tremendous
amount for your community in terms of funding,
for transportation projects, substance abuse programs,

The census is really important because it allows a community
that people traditionally don't think about when they think
about those who are in this country and who are newer
to this country- it allows for that population
to really be counted and their needs to be showcased-
and it's really important to us in order
to get services to those communities.

with language access issues.
We use census data to look at poverty information,
which can be used as a proxy for a variety
of other societal ailments.

to answer questions about the Latino community.

More than $400 billion dollars every year is distributed
to states and localities based on the count; a lot of that goes
to schools and child-care centers and health clinics
that focus on children and children's well being.
So for every community to get their fair share
of those resources, we need to make sure
that every child is included in the census.
