KELLI O'HARA: You can only be you.
You can't be anybody else.
And no matter what anybody else is doing, it's
not what you do.
And one of these days what you do will be the
thing that's wanted.
So just keep doing what you do.
ROBYN HURDER: Take ballet class.
I'm just going to say it.
If I didn't have ballet, I wouldn't be here today.
Ballet is the root.
It's the core.
If you don't have it, I mean, I can go to
auditions and see--
I can pick out the dancers who are great jazz dancers, but if
you don't have the core training of ballet, then it
puts you in a different category.
KATHLEEN MARSHALL: I think to choreograph, especially on
Broadway, it's really good to know style.
I mean, this is a show that takes place in the '20s.
The last show I did took place in the '30s.
So I think it helps to understand different eras and
different styles.
Look at old movies.
Watch old TV shows.
Watch old MGM musicals, old Fred and Ginger musicals.
Understand how those classic musicals work, and then you
can turn around and make it your own.
