Next type of tint that we're going to talk about is been fairly popular is the gradient
tint. What a gradient tint is I mean on the top of the glasses it starts off darker and
then fades to either a very light tint at the bottom or even a clear at the bottom.
I have a few illustrations of this and I'll tell you the purpose as we go. This is a good
example of a gradient tint. If you'll notice dark on the top fades almost to clear at the
bottom although there is some tint there. The reason that you would do something like
this is let's say, you know, on the road you know you need to have that sunglass protection
in your distance. But if you wanted to read something at the bottom you don't necessarily
want the tint on the bottom so that you could read things maybe in more natural light. It's
also done as a fashion so it's not just the pragmatic value but there's also, there's
also a fashion element. For those of you who are interested in violet colored lenses this
is almost fades to clear but I can't really think of a good reason why anybody would want
a violet lens. Other than the fact that it's fashionable, somebody liked the color. So
there is that fashion element the way that the glasses look, the kind of the presentation,
so two different reasons but again gradient very popular for those two reasons. The fashion
element and the utilitarian element of having the darkness on the top for the distance for
driving and then the bottom of them for when you have to read something up close and just
want not the obstruction of that tint.
