Steve: Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect; today we are going to show you how to change the
Moisture Sensor on your dryer, it’s a really easy job, all we are going to need is a putty
knife, 5/16 nut driver, a small flat blade screw driver, and maybe a pair of needle nose,
let me show you how we do it.
Now the first step to this repair will be to disconnect power supply to the appliance,
if it has a plug on it simply remove the plug from the socket, if it’s hard wired, we’ll
need to disconnect the breaker.
And this repair will be to lift the main top and just hold it in place with two spring
clips one on each side of the door, and with the putty knife just slide that in, and you
press the spring clip and hold the top up, just temporarily, and then we’ll tilt the
top back and lean it up against the wall.
Next we are going to remove the two way wire hands for the door switch, and lift the edge
of that connector so that the locking table will slide out, there are two 5/16ths screws
that secure the top of the front panel to the cabinet; we’ll remove those, now we
can tilt the front panel forward, and lift up gently on either side, we’ll unhook,
it from the two catches that are located on the bottom side, then we can remove the front
panel.
Now with the front panel removed, we have access now to the terminals for the Moisture
Sensor, you simply remove those two wires, you can see the end of the moisture sensor
protruding through the bulk head here, now there’s a lock-in tab on that terminal,
so squeeze the lock-in tab flat, with a pair of needle nose pliers, and then push towards
the inside of the dryer, and you can reach inside, pull it the rest of the way, the opposite
end of the sensor has a little tab on it as well.
Now we go to install the new one, make sure that, that locking tab is protruding out enough
to catch on the housing, so simply insert only the end into the bulk head, and line
the other end up, press it firmly in place until you hear the locking tab snap, now it’s
firmly in place.
Now we can reconnect the wires, and we are ready to put the front panel back on, now
to reinstall the front panel, we want to make sure that these two rectangular holes line
up with the two catches on the front, make sure they engage fully, next we will replace
the two screws that hold the front panel to the cabinet, and remember to reconnect the
door switch hands.
Make sure the locking tab holds it in place, now we are ready to put the main top down,
want to make sure that these two spring clips engage the two hooks at the top of the front
panel, open the door slightly, and our repair is complete.
I told you it was an easy job. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your repair.
