...you'll see in your pack
is 'Developing change through an effective educational intervention'.
And in many ways this change, what you'll see there
is certainly the flavour Roehampton have given the change
and as we've worked very closely with our colleagues in the consortium
we're confident that, obviously these are topics
and these are topic areas that will have real relevance for you
in studying this module.
So the flavour of this is very much about
that having established your ethos, your values,
and any stance that you are happy and do take in relation to inclusion
and the discourse around inclusion,
that you will, at this point, by certainly module 4, 5 and 6
be really beginning to reflect on change and managing change.
And the starting point for all this is very firmly around your values
and your sort of ethics.
And that's a strand and, I suppose, a key feature of module 1.
It's establishment of values and ethics
because it's only when you do that that you realise where you stand
within the debate,
within the contentious discussions around inclusion.
So we perceive this sixth module as being very much about change.
And in order to initiate change,
it involves collaborative partnerships.
It involves collaborative partnerships in your school.
It involves collaborative partnerships within your class
but also it involves collaborative partnerships
in the wider, outside the school community.
So this module, as I say, is very much about change
and we'll be exploring managing change in school,
looking at some of the contentious nature of the discourse
that's in the policy documentation.
So, for example, we have the contentious issues
related to assessment,
related to league tables, related to labelling children,
and related to educational excellence
and perceptions of what counts as excellence.
So, on one hand we have that and on the other hand
we have very much the discourse of inclusion
and valuing every child.
So, I guess it's important for us to just critically interrogate
the documentation to see where we stand within that.
And this module will give you another opportunity to do that,
to explore collaborative working practices in school
and then to look at interventions.
So interventions from the management point of view,
coming from top down, enforced interventions, as it were.
and also looking at interventions from the child level up.
So looking at what is out there, what counts as an intervention
and also having a critical and a sort of analytical understanding
of what we're trying to achieve through an intervention
and how it can impact on the child,
the school and on the wider community.
