Ray Kelly the NYPD police commissioner went on face the nation.
and there are two parts they're really stuck out to me in his
defense I'll stop and frisk first let's listen to him try to justify
stopping more minorities when the judge says you're stopping more minorities
that's basically what she's saying
habit what do you say in response to that well
we want to the rand corporation in 2006 and we asked this question
how do you determine whether or not these racial profiling going on
they said that the appropiate formula to use if you will
is a description of victims a violent crime
on the perpetrators up violent crime and I can assure you
our stops certainly comport with that that's the Bill O'Reilly argument that
is exactly what Bill O'Reilly said the other week
he said hey it's very bitter committing the crimes
sewing anything its unfair against the 13 white guys that we stopped
because according to the data is on the white guys committing the crimes in the
white guys latino guys
all in amazes me that they still use this argument with a straight face
think about what percentage
all the black community actually commits crime
is Amy see
tiny percentage but you're a Kelly
if you're black by definition your suspect you need to accept that they're
gonna looking you extra scrutiny
well we can play that game too so for example
a majority of mass shootings are done by white males
now of course it is still a teeny tiny percentage
of the poll number of white males
in society but since Ray Kelly
doesn't care about that I guess we should just profile all white males
if we're going to use his logic that's exactly what we would say or take for
example abortion clinic bombings
you know does abortion clinic bombings questions
final as Christians so according to Ray Kelly logic I guess we should profile
all Christians they are all suspects for terrorism
you see how ridiculous that is when you try to flip the script
and use a different group but to rate Kelly and Michael or go along with
blacks and Latinos its okay
to target them why because they don't have as much
institutional power as say for example
the people on Wall Street now
I i understand it you understand that people are individuals
you're supposed to judge people based on evidence and based on your actions
not based on some arbitrary profile and things like their skin color
I mean that's just a random characteristic that has nothing to do
with one's character
but take for example people on Wall Street
right I mean these guys tend to the economy
committed crimes they foreclosed on millions have houses
sold predatory loans committed fraud to
like Goldman Sachs they were raided the US Treasury
to then give bonuses to the failures
that were CEO's that bankrupted their companies
right n if you want to stop and frisk them
my guess is you'd find plenty of *** plenty you illegal pills
and phone numbers for some high-priced hookers but
at they don't care when it's
the rich and the powerful committing crimes because again
the mindset is by definition the blacks and Latinos are more suspects and they
deserve to be pressed
whereas the guys on wall street or committing the crimes it will take away
your house
and all white collar crimes well there
a good upstanding citizens that wear a suit and tie to work so we don't go
after them
but as if all this wasn't enough
look I'll give you the number like to give me the other day at
87 percent of people stopped for a stop-and-frisk
in 2011 were black and Latino
only 52 percent of the population New York City
is why committee now so way out of proportion
so by definition that is racist furthermore
it to the people they would say wall it's okay because they commit more
crimes
but then why it ninety percent other time
the stop-and-frisk ce were wrong tony has a 10 percent success rate
now imagine you home in your can you show your parents a test you got a ten
on
they won't be your yes Michael Bloomberg and Ray Kelly brag about their ten
percent
and does not even to mention the fact that
all the different all racial groups you know which one was caught with drugs
n guns more often white people
but all these fax and statistics
are irrelevant because Michael Bloomberg and Ray Kelly have their mindset
now on top of all this the other part on the interview
that I loved her Ray Kelly
response to a proposal to put cameras on NYPD officers
are you gonna do anything different i mean one thing she said was she wants
some officers to carry body
cameras sell that the stops can be recorded
are you planning to do that well we're going to
up obviously apply for a stay in the peel
well go forward but the the body camera issue
opens up certainly more questions than answers are
that's priceless so his argument to innocent people being stopped and
frisked
is hey if you're not doing anything wrong
it should bother you I don't worry about it
when you flip that argument around on him and say hey man
if the cops are doing anything wrong the camera should bother you
all the sudden he doesn't think that's a good argument all the sudden
yeah you know there are three XAS more questions than answers and we filed an
appeal comes word on favor in return we want to cover up with the cops are doing
is they're
profiling people and I have no basis to search people what did I say all that
lol
look it's incredible it's like these guys are
born incapable of detecting their own hypocrisy
you know what for the example with cameras
they've tried it in other places around the US guess what
when they put the cameras in place the cops are doing
a lot less bad things there were a while as violations there were a lot less
instances a racial profiling why because they knew they were being watched
24/7 they knew their actions were on tape so they only did the job that they
were supposed to do
or a stop-and-frisk there is no evidence that works and of course
it is boiling we unconstitutional
it's not open to debate right all this the dude I just went through all the
different ways
put that all its I do it doesn't matter you're not allowed to do it
people ever protection for the member protection from unreasonable search and
seizure and what they're doing is unreasonable
searches and seizures they also have a right to equal protection of the law
and according to the very statistics blacks and Latinos
do not have equal protection under the law
it is time to scrap the stop-and-frisk law
and put cameras on the NYPD officers
