Brenda Osborne-Delaware Campus Scholarship
I actually never went to college. When I moved to Ohio, I actually didn’t know anybody,
so when I started looking for a job I ran up against a bunch of walls. Because I didn’t
have a degree. The market being flooded with all the job applicants I wasn’t getting
through the filters because I wasn’t meeting the minimum education requirements. I was
actually at the time in the banking financing industry. A couple of the companies that I
had worked for had gone under so it was quite the turmoil, you know life brings a bunch
of different curve balls towards you that you don’t expect. I am going to go into
nursing. I’ve had the opportunity to care for several family members in various stages
of illnesses and surgeries and so fourth. Its part of who I am, I have a knack for it.
I have always been interested in healthcare and have worked in the healthcare industry
as an executive assistant. I received the Delaware scholarship. With the new facility
opening they offered a scholarship, I applied and was quite surprised to get it. I know
that the Development Foundation, people donate money to that, and I am grateful because I
did receive it. It was helpful. The people who donate, never really know what the money
is going towards, and if they hear me, I want to say thank you. That I am doing my best,
that you know, one day maybe I will be able to give back to them. Whether its in the healthcare
field taking care of them or their loved ones, in some way give back. I am very grateful
for the money I did receive.
