We're at Art Wynwood Miami with Teresa Diehl and she's originally from...?
Lebanon. I was born in Lebanon and raised in Venezuela.
How come you ended up in Miami? Tell me your story.
It's the closest point now to Venezuela, to Caracas. So we're two and a half hours away
to see my family. But now I'm in Miami.
What do you think is happening in Miami with the art scene exploding?
Miami is an amazing place. For a long time, it was a quiet place where artists were doing
their work almost underground. They exploring it in New York and other places. Now Art Basel
was this little element that served as a catalyst for this whole movement in Miami. We have
a lot of artists that now have come back to Miami and realizing this is a very fertile
ground. Because of the culture, because of the interaction, because of the people. It's
a melting point of ideas, cultures, senses, colors, light... the light here is amazing.
And the weather allows us to keep working all the time.
What do you think is happening with Latin America right now?
Latin America... we used to think of Latin America as Carmen Miranda with the bananas
in the head and it's not. Latin America is a very sophisticated culture based on being
brought back by different cultures; whether it was the Spaniards or Portuguese... and
they mingled. So its a culture of growth - of always constantly changing - and they're assessing
and questioning their identity
