Today, Malasada, also known as fried Hawaiian doughnut, is going to be introduced.
Malasada is originally from Portugal.
This is the recipe for Malasada without second fermentation. Please have a look!
Today, coconut oil has been used for Malasada.
Coconut oil can be replaced with the liquid oil such as white rice sesame oil or rapeseed oil.
Although the dough is sticky at the beginning, it becomes smooth if you knead it thoroughly.
When you fry Malasada, flatten rounded dough with fingers before put them in oil, in order to fry both side beautifully browned as it is shown in the movie.
Otherwise only one side fried and other side cannot be cooked well. Please try it! See you next week!
