In general, Korean people get emotionally comforted by music a great deal
probably because of their sentiment
I myself also wrote a lot of love songs that were closely connected to my own feelings and memories.
So when those who are emotionally exhausted or hurt listen to my songs
I want my songs to feel nostalgic and emotionally comforting
I am G-Dragon, the leader of the group Big ***
I am a musician.
Big *** is a boyband
and everyone in the band is involved with writing music, styling, staging...
Sometimes members of the group don't like a song that was written for it but they have to sing it anyway.
Members of Big *** record solo albums on the side so they can spend time working on their favorite genres.
I hope this shows each member's character as well as the character of the group.
I consider myself less of a beat maker who just stamps out beats than a melody maker.
When a good beat is made, I immediately try to come up with the right melody for it by freestyling.
That's the way we write most of our songs.
We use mostly Protools, starting with the beat then melody then arrangement.
Sometimes we finish 2 or 3 songs.
Thanks to the great system we have here, the whole process takes less time for us than other people.
When working with people of the same mindset
we listen together and help each other so we can fix it at the spot
It definitely makes the sound more solid.
Whether they are fans or not, when people listen to an album recorded by a singer
they should not just see the singer's outer appearance
but his thoughts or sense other things about the singer
I want the album to be something that is worth collecting
and that's why I put a lot of effort into every detail
These days, you can definitely take advantage of the internet
to study someone's image and create one of your own
I believe the more time and energy you spend on it, the bigger the reward is.
I've wanted to be a singer since I was little, so the album "Heartbreaker" has a special place in my heart.
I joined YG at 13 and the solo album came out at 22, so it took about 10 years.
Releasing a solo album means a lot to me.
The track list consists of 10 selections
Each of those 10 songs tells one of my stories and each story is very autobiographical.
We also shot many music videos, about 4 different videos for each song.
It's entertaining because each song is a very different kind of concept.
I see "great" songs that deal with love but also convey some important messages
A song with a strong message is strong enough to move the entire world.
When I listen to those kinds of songs by other great artists
it makes me realize that I could be one too, if I try.
Even if they don't end up on the album, my personal wish now is to write more songs with great messages.
