Paula Heron, UK Gill:
Being physically active
is important for
cardiovascular health
and I understand UK
Healthcare is a big
supporter of the
upcoming Central
Kentucky Heart Walk.
Tell us about why you
choose to support this
event.
The Central Kentucky
Heart Walk is brought
to you by UK Health
Care and the Gill Heart
Institute. We
encourage our friends
and neighbors to walk
for heart health and
join our team or form
their own teams
because we know how
important something
as simple as walking
can be to improving
cardiovascular health.
This event raises vital
dollars that fund
cardiovascular research
right here at the
University of Kentucky.
We know that
participating in the
Heart Walk is good for
all our bodies. Why is
that?
Physical activity
improves all the factors
that contribute to
cardiovascular disease:
high cholesterol, high
blood pressure, and
high resting heart rate.
Being active reduces
the risk and severity of
diabetes and it
improves strength,
balance and long term
brain health. The Heart
Walk is a perfect time
to begin an exercise
routine.
