- The vibe of our show, Briefs, is very much a party/theatre/circus experience.
We really do it for the crowd.
It's very entertaining
and there's very much a lot of endearing sort of social satire within the show
and a lot of sexy boys. (LAUGHS)

- We'd seen many burlesque shows
and we'd seen that the girls were doing all these amazing works
and we thought, "Why don't us boys give it a go?"
So having worked together in the past, we all said,
"Why don't we put on a night where it's all males?"
And we have to bring a new act.
And it's sort of just a bit of a ***-take
on all those genres, vaudeville, burlesque, what have you.
And, yeah, that was three years ago, and over the last three years,
we've just progressed into this beast that we've brought to Parramatta.
(DRUM BEATS RHYTHMICALLY)
- Burlesque, the majority of the performers are female,
but there's always been a token one or two males
that would be more comic relief.
So I guess the boylesque element is definitely more comical
in the majority of the boy performers,
but, yeah, there's also beautiful male strip acts, as well.
So, yeah, it's a crazy mix.
- # Before you
# My whole life was acapella
- We throw a lot of things at the audience.
We're circus performers and dancers,
we have hula-hoops, we have aerials consisting of tissues, trapeze,
a thing called cloud, we have dance, we have lip-sync,
we have a whole mash-up of skills all happening at once in the group numbers.
We have feathers, as well.
(DANCE MUSIC)
- My role, I have the pleasure of introducing some amazing performers
that are not only leading the pack in Australia but also really dear friends.
I come from a dance background,
so I only found the carny circus world maybe four or five years ago
and I kind of went, "I think this is where I live, this is where I belong."
So I guess my climb into circus has been
the love child of the bearded lady and the ringmaster. (LAUGHS)
Welcome to Briefs. I hope you enjoy the ride.
It's a little bit of butch with a truckload of camp.
- Briefs is playing at the Spiegeltent at Parramatta
and just like every Spiegel, it's phenomenal.
We have audiences surrounding us and it creates this perfect atmosphere for us.
- The fact that this is a moving space
that not only can set up anywhere
but it's just a stunning environment,
I think people, once they come in,
they get taken to a different world,
and I guess that's what theatre's about.
And I love that we're part of the Parramatta precinct
as part of Sydney Festival.
Briefs is all about bringing it to the people,
it's about bringing the RSL to the big top,
it's about bringing the nightclub to the theatre
and undoing the seat belts for audiences.
(DRUMS AND CHANTING)
- We'd like to say that Briefs is pulled together
with a little bit of Sellotape and hope.
Expect the unexpected at Briefs, but you'll...
If anything, you might just walk away with a bit of a splatter.
