JOE WILES: Hi, this is Joe with the Rock & Roll Conservatory on behalf of Expert Village.
In these next two segments, we're going to talk about Nirvana's "In Bloom." It's a power
chord based riff, really super simple. Let's take a look. For the introduction, all of
our power chords are going to be three-fingered power chords, rooted on the low E string.
So we're basically going to take this form and move it around the low E string, okay?
The first one, we're going to put our index finger on the sixth fret of the low E string,
ring finger on the eighth fret of the A string, and our pinky on the eighth fret of the D
string. We're going to slide this whole bit down to the third fret, okay? In other words,
we're going to put our index finger on the third fret of the low E string, ring finger
on this fifth fret of the A string, and pinky on the fifth fret of the D string. Then, the
next one is just the same deal, two frets down. Okay? First fret with the index finger,
third fret with the ring finger, and third fret with the pinky. Then, we're going to
come up to the fourth fret, same form, okay, fourth fret, sixth fret, sixth fret. The introduction,
all put together sounds like this, slowly. To speed, it sounds like this.
In the next segment for "In Bloom," we're going to talk about the verse riff, which
is really cool. I'll see you there.
