>> Steve G: Ok, we are at the Hammerhead booth. Now everyone who knows anything about scooters
and keeps their eyes on the scooter market, knows about Hammerhead and knows about the
LaVita, which is, um, a retro styled scooter that, uh, you know has a lot of familiar accents
to it and I had never had a chance to see it in person and so seeing it here on the
floor for the first time I can say that, um, it's kinda spooky, uh how, how well it came
out. Uh, so I wanted to do is come here and talk with the muse behind that and that's
Paul Burnett, Paul good to see you.
>> Paul B: How you doin' Steve?
>> Steve G: Good man! Good. So, now uh um, you were tellin' me Hammerhead wanted to get
into sort of the retro market and and you're like, I can help you out. Is that how it?
>> Paul B: Yeah, we're uh disappointed that the Adly Lambretta project didn't go like
we wanted.
>> Steve G: Yeah
>> Paul B: that's still in the works
>> Steve G: OK!
>> Paul B: We've still got a hand in that.
>> Steve G: Uh huh.
>> Paul B: But, uh. So we took the project elsewhere, and uh, since we own some factories
back in China, and um, married with some tool and die guys
>> Steve G: Yep.
>> Paul B: Designed a true retro design, and uh, hopefully not a cheesy copy.
>> Steve G: Yeah, yeah, well uh let's let's let's let the viewers determine that for themselves.
Let's back up a little bit, get some wide shots here. Um, now, this comes in how many
different colors?
>> Paul B: Initially we have four.
>> Steve G: Four colors.
>> Paul B: We've got red, then the green, the off white, black. We're gonna have baby
blue. Uh, if we get enough demand we might do a pink one.
>> Steve G: Ok.
>> Paul B: Uh, It's ABS plastic, so we can paint any color we want.
>> Steve G: Ok.
>> Paul B: If there's enough demand, we can produce it.
>> Steve G: Yeah, yeah. And, and so and give me a little brief run down again of what what
sort of power plant we're looking at, and uh. It's a 150? 150 cc EFI.
>> Paul B: Yeah, EFI. It's a Delphi fuel injection out of Taiwan.
>> Steve G: Ok.
>> Paul B: Uh, not super sophisticated, but it's got 5 sensors.
>> Steve G: Uh huh.
>> Paul B: Reads 24 times a revolution.
>> Steve G: Uh huh.
>> Paul B: And uh, smooth, clean starts right out of the box. You hit the button, it, it
goes.
>> Steve G: Yeah.
>> Paul B: And, uh, hopefully it's a great dependable system. It's proven itself in the
past with other companies
>> Steve G: Yeah! And one thing I like about this too, is like, you COULD have taken, uh
uh , you know, the the easy route, you know, but I look at it, if we can bring the camera
down. Look, look at this we've got front disc configuration and let's look in the back.
[pause]
>> Steve G: So, back here, we've got a disc over here on this side, if you wanna get a
shot of that. We've got LED, it's got LED tail lights. Uh, there's your plate illumination.
It, it comes with this rear rack. Is that right?
>> Paul B: It comes with a rear rack. All the external hardware is stainless steel.
>> Steve G: Ok!
>> Paul B: The nuts and bolts.
>> Steve G: Uh huh
>> Paul B: Uh, we've used stainless steel lines on the brake lines,
>> Steve G: uh huh
>> Paul B: we've tried to go as highclass with, with great material as we can
>> Steve G: yeah
>> Paul B: and still keep the price reasonable.
>> Steve G: Yeah! Yeah, now uh a lot of uh, um retro scooter enthusiasts are going to
recognize a lot of, um the accesability of... it's uh, it's a little bit different in this.
Paul was showing me over on this side. But, we still have under seat gas. Is that right?
>> Paul B: Yes.
>> Steve G: Ok, under seat gas
>> Paul B: gas cap?
>> Steve G: yeah, gas cap right there. Uh, but it doesn't have a simple pop-up hook and
slide out sort of mechanism to access the engine it takes about a good 10 minutes to
wrench this off, um once you've gone through the experience. Once you've busted your knuckles
one time, you'll get it down to 10 minutes. Yeah.
>> Paul B: Ten screws, bolts, take the rack off.
>> Steve G: Ok.
>> Paul B: That's actually the battery access.
>> Steve G: Battery access. Ok.
>> Paul B: Access to the ECM, to the computer module.
>> Steve G: Uh huh, uh huh. Then I notice up here we've got um, uh, you know a digital...
>> Paul B: Currently it's digital. We're working, with ah, to get a fake analog looking,
>> Steve G: uh huh
>> Paul B: clam shell type.
>> Steve G: uh huh, alright. Good deal. What kind of bulbs do we have?
>> Paul B: H4
>> Steve G: Ok, alright. H4 bulb. We've got front and read discs, I mean that's really,
that's really cool and it, it feels a lot better than I anticipated.
>> Paul B: It's, It's ABS plastic, it's pretty stiff.
>> Steve G: Yeah.
>> Paul B: You crash it, it's gonna shatter. But,
>> Steve G: Yeah.
>> Paul B: you can paint it.
>> Steve G: Yeah.
>> Paul B: You can replace every part on this within an hour.
>> Steve G: uh huh.
>> Paul B: so, it's not gonna be an 800 - 1000 dollar bid for fallin' over on metal.
>> Steve G: Yeah, yeah let's go over here to the front.
[pause]
>> Steve G: So, again here's uh, uh another seat option we have. And so, and and will
the pricing on on this unit be a bit uh different than that one?
>> Paul B: That's available. The black one is coming like that.
>> Steve G: Ok
>> Paul B: With the seat option, you can interchange it.
>> Steve G: Ok
>> Paul B: So actually, that seat will be an accessory you can swap out the bench seat.
>> Steve G: Ok, alright.
>> Paul B: We are working on other accessories. A leather, rear bag case to give a more traditional
type look.
>> Steve G: Yeah!
>> Paul B: And we have the front rack, we have some trim pieces,
>> Steve G: uh huh
>> Paul B: available with that.
>> Steve G: And then you said these JUST arrived at the warehouse.
>> Paul B: Monday
>> Steve G: Monday?
>> Paul B: Just here this monday.
>> Steve G: Just this last Monday.
>> Steve G: So, these these could be on dealer's floors?
>> Paul B: They're already on their way.
>> Steve G: They're on their way?
>> Paul B: They've already shipped out the first container
>> Steve G: Yeah?
>> Paul B: (unintelligible) They went out Monday before we came to the show.
>> Steve G: Ok, well YEAH MAN! Well, I'm real excited for the project.
>> Paul B: We are too, I'm glad to see it actually here.
>> Steve G: Yeah, yah yah Yea h, I I mean it's something I would have never imagined
happen, but it's happening. And and, you know, I wanna see, I wanna catch up again in a year,
in a couple years, see how they are holding up, and uh, hopefully well, and hopefully
they keep their reliablity high. Yep.
>> Paul B: That's my job. I'm down there keepin' em in line.
>> Steve G: Yeah! Awesome.
>> Paul B: Thank you Steve.
>> Steve G: Yeah! Thanks for the tour. Alright.
