Here's Andrew. He's late. As usual.
As usual.
But, at any rate, hello, Andrew.
- Anyway, it flew off and then... - Anyone injured?
No one was injured anyway.
Hi, Andrew.
hello.
Happy Ede.
Yes, same to you?
Did you have a good 'un?
We did indeed.
Right, I brought all the consent forms for your trip.
For the trip next week, yeah.
All right?
Pinball and Laserquest -
that's what they asked for.
Well, let's go for it then.
Shall we?
We can get you on that training course eventually,
when they run more of it.
The course has been full to the brim.
Have you asked Phil about it?
You mean home learning?
No, I'll see him on Thursday morning
- Hello. - Hello!
(All) Andrew, hello.
How are you? You all right?
Sanje, you need to fill in a form for me.
Laserquest and bowling.
You're on the streets,
we're signing the consent forms for the Ede celebration,
Ede celebration next week.
And then the week after that
we'll be on the streets giving out the fourth anniversary of ***
Then we're gonna do a showcase in the Master Lodge.
We're gonna show all the pictures since we started till now.
And on the 14th we're gonna have a movie night down there.
Yeah, I'll go to that one.
You should sign the back of them.
Sign the back.
We've got £100,000 to build the extension.
You're building the extension?
The government minister came out last Friday to the centre.
So, there's a £100,000 extension that should be built on.
What happened to the other areas?
Can't get planning permission, they're too expensive.
They'd need lots more money, it's not feasible.
- £100,000 is good enough for us, eh? - It is pretty good.
What's wrong with your job?
I'm not very happy, man.
Why are you not happy with it?
I am happy but I prefer different job.
I'm gonna go back to school next year, do something different.
I don't want to work in factory all my life.
So, why did you leave school so early then?
Peer pressure, you know.
- Peer pressure? - Yeah.
I wanted to do chemistry.
They offered, while I was doing my A-levels,
they offered us a position just to go do a unit,
called taste the course, just to follow people around
who are actually doing the course. You get to sit in their lectures.
It's for a whole day and you get to see a taste of that course.
What about the forms, the applications?
- I'm going. - OK.
- Are you coming on the Ede trip? - I don't know.
OK, see you later.
What about the writing in the application forms?
No good.
OK, well, we can work on that.
- So many to write, isn't there? - Yeah.
And a lot of forms are very similar.
If we go round Tescos and get a form and practice on it, it'll be all right.
You can do that.
- Right, we're off now. - See you guys later.
See you next week, guys.
- I'll see you if you're on the bowling. - See you next week.
That's what, Tuesday?
Yeah.
I'll give you a ring tomorrow.
Hey!
- See you next week? - I'll see you next week.
I'll see you on Friday.
Remember the old factory?
It's very different now, isn't it?
How you doing?
There's the Ede celebration at Laserquest and bowling.
- Laserquest and bowling? - Yeah.
Couldn't you think of anything else? What can you think of?
Why do you come up with the same thing all the time?
What can you think of, Farouk?
I want to see what's going on.
The Ede celebration.
Yeah, man, put me down.
- Food, food, there's food. - Yeah, put me down.
Did you tap any money off them to pay your bills?
No... I paid them all.
That's good.
Apart from the rent.
- Is that sorted now? - Yeah, it is now.
Did you do that or did she go down there?
I did it all.
Did you do it the way I told you?
No, I worked.
On the Friday to pay the rent?
- No, a couple of days a week. - Oh, right.
I'm fully qualified,
but I don't know if I'm gonna put my skills into use or not.
- There's another course as well. - Yeah, I'm gonna take that.
The place I work at is like, you know, I work with you on Fridays,
and the kids there are like 13/14.
We work up to 25-year-olds but it's not always, know what I'm saying.
Detached youth work, I've not really done any detached youth work yet.
I don't know, it's all right - this is detached youth work, isn't it?
You wanna do Mela then?
Yeah, why not?
It's not like scary, is it?
I don't know, it's two, three thousand people there.
So?
If these lot can do it, I'm gonna do it as well.
I ain't got backup or nothing, do you know what I mean?
I'll get the entry form.
How can people be born gay?
No one said they were born gay.
You said they discovered they were gay.
As people grow up, they go into relationships,
and they explore the choices and then eventually they think...
Do you think it's natural? Do you think it's right for them?
It's right for the people who want to be gay, yeah.
What I'm trying to say, is it natural?
Gays are gay because of society or media, fashion trends -
that's what I think. That's what society's all about.
Nature/nurture, that does have an effect on people.
- It's 100%. - It's not 100%.
No, in religion, in Islam, it doesn't say to be against gays,
it says you should respect them.
See you later then.
- See you later. - Thanks for the rap.
It'll be out for Christmas.
- That was challenging tonight. - Very challenging.
Describe what you're hoping to achieve in this particular session.
- To promote Ede celebration. - Promoting...
Did we not actually plan the informal discussions?
We left space for them.
You could do an awful lot of activities,
and you'd never have any discussions.
So, that's quite important.
OK, one of the things on top of the form is adulthood and independence.
What's really good about that session is they were learning
to talk about a really difficult issue for them,
which was quite complex.
We couldn't do that at home,
so, if you add that in that bit along there.
Getting future issues out.
I know youth workers, they'd be up for that,
cos that's part of his job.
- All right then? - That's about it, yeah.
Signed it?
That's yours. See you later.
Do you want to get that light for us?
Good night then.
See you next week,
6.50 for the Eid trip.
See you then.
