This is my train journey to Hällnäs (In northern Sweden).
The trip was made with the classic Swedich railcar Y1 (From the late 1970s).
Y1 1356 is a reserv train for the Itino train operated by Norrtåg. The train is borrowed from the "Inlandsbanan".
The journey begins in a wintry Umeå Östra (In northern Sweden).
Y1 railcars are lovely to ride with.
The railcar stop at Umeå Central station in autumn colors. Before we go further, we pick up some more passengers.

Jeffs train journey to Hällnäs.
It´s THE JOURNEY THAT MATTERS... NOT THE DESTINATION...
A film created by: Jeff Trigwell
We got off the train and it goes on to Lycksele.
The first thing that strikes in Hällnäs is how quiet and peaceful it is. And how well preserved everything is. It's almost like a time capsule.
1965 Hällnäs had 524 inhabitants. In 2010 the figure was halved 259.
In addition to the fine old station, there are old houses for railway workers.
There are not that many shops anymore in Hällnäs. I can fit all of them in one picture.
Hällnäs is probably best known for its large Sanatorium in the middle of nowhere. 1948, the sanatorium had room for 340 patients.
But now back to the fine station. That local people takes care of.
From the old ticket window, you can now buy very good and inexpensive refreshments. In the waiting room or on the platform, you can sit and have refreshments served.
One can also buy hot hotdog for sale on the platform.
Before we take the train back to Umeå, we look at the nice exhibition in the station.
So we step on the train for the return journey and I say: See you later Hällnäs.
