I AM…Jesus We want to be on Jesus’ side. Perhaps more
accurately, we want Jesus on our side. That presents a dilemma Diverse groups of people
claim Jesus is on their side and they have mutually exclusive agendas. Is Jesus Republican
or Democrat, communist or capitalist, guru or hippie, prophet or teacher, lunatic or
Savior? Was He all of them or none of them? How did Jesus describe Himself? We will “listen”
to His own words to better understand Him and to better share His truth with others
as we prepare to celebrate His resurrection on Easter.
Jesus made several “I am” statements in the Gospel of John that provide a clear picture
of His own identity: “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born,
I am!” [John 8:58] THE EASTER MESSAGE:
GO THROUGH THE DOOR! The Door was totally open in the beginning:
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden
in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Genesis 3:8 Adam and Eve looked for a better door on their
own and sinned. Adam slammed the door in God’s face!
How did God respond? Check out Genesis 3:21-24 God was not finished with the Door!
When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood
on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not
permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.
Exodus 12:23 And you shall hang up the veil under the clasps,
and shall bring in the ark of the testimony there within the veil; and the veil shall
serve for you as a partition {door} between the holy place and the holy of holies. And
you shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the holy of holies.
Exodus 26:33-34 (New American Standard Bible) God sent the Door to us: I am the door; if
anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out {he will be safe},
and find pasture {he will be satisfied}. The thief comes only
to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.
I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
John 10:9-11 (New American Standard Bible) What will we find when we go through the Door?
Salvation Safety
Satisfaction What is the cost of this Door?
The cross did not shut the door! The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life--only
to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I
have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received
from my Father. John 10:17-18 The tomb did not close the door! "Don't be
alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen!
He is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
Mark 16:6 The awesome Easter message: Jesus wants to
become your Door! Jesus is not one of the doors.
Jesus said: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me.” John 14:6 Which door can you control: birth? death?
eternal life? So, friends, we can now—without hesitation—walk
right up to God, into "the Holy Place." Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice,
acting as our priest before God. The "curtain" into God's presence is his body. So let's
do it—full of belief, confident that we're presentable inside and out. Hebrews 10:22

Salvation through Jesus Jesus is the one and only way to eternal life.
Without Jesus, we are out of relationship with God and our only future is death, eternal
separation from God. Jesus is the only way for us to be in relationship with God. Jesus
offers us salvation through His death and resurrection on the cross to whoever will
believe in Him. A key part of Christian faith is the belief in the actual resurrection of Jesus. Through
His love and sacrifice on the cross, we can have eternal life. It is through our faith
in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior that we can
be saved. It is only through
Jesus that we can be reconciled back to
God forever. Jesus, The One Way.
