Ruth Person: I'm Ruth Person. I'm the Chancellor here at the University of Michigan-Flint.
Just completed my first week. And now we're having a history in the making. We are moving
our first group of students into the first ever residence facility at the University
of Michigan-Flint. This is truly a wonderful moment and I'm happy to be part of it. And
I'm here to welcome students today and greet them and make sure that they get settled in.
We have over 200 volunteers who are working with us and I really appreciate all of their
help as well as our students and our staff and faculty members. So it's a great day.
History in the making. Ashley: I'm Ashley ?. I'm from Pinckney, Michigan
and I'm honored to be here on such a special day.
Okay, I'm Jeanne. I'm the Director of Housing and Residential Life. It's about 10 o'clock
in the morning. Things are going great on move in day. It's our first day. The students
are excited. Families are excited and everybody's getting moved in.
Celeste Grab: Hi, I'm Celeste Grab and I'm a sophomore here at U of M-Flint and I really
think this is a great opportunity for U of M-Flint students to live on campus. This is
a great thing for Flint and that's why I chose to volunteer.
Jasmine: Hi, I'm Jasmine and I am from Detroit and the reason I chose the University of Michigan-Flint
is because I've always wanted to go to the University of Michigan and when I got accepted
I was elated because they have new dorms and so this was my first pick anyways.
Mary Jo SekelskY: I'm Mary Jo Sekelsky, Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Enrollment
Management. Welcome to move-in day. We've had a terrific morning so far. The weather's
cooperating. Everybody's happy. We're moving students in left and right as you can see.
Unknown: And then this is the Chancellor of U of M.
Ruth Person: How are you? Are you just going in? Alright. Okay. Proud mom.
Unknown: Yes, I am. I'm a Michigan grandma. And then this is Haley.
Ruth Person: Hi, Haley. How are you? You're not moving in yet, are ya?
Haley: No. Ruth Person: Not yet. Soon.
